Freedom invade London – Houses of Parliament trip 2018

On Sunday 14th October 10 people from Freedom Support Training Academy went by train down to London to prepare for our trip to the Houses of Parliament as guests of MP Neil O’Brien and Narinder Singh. On our first evening there we stayed in a hotel and had a wonderful time eating a meal (and the odd drink) at a fancy restaurant and enjoying our surroundings. We all had such a wonderful time together with lots of laughs.

The Houses of Parliament on Monday 15th October proved to be extremely interesting and all of us answered and asked questions whilst touring the House of Commons and the House of Lords with a very knowledgeable tour guide. We were then treated to a VIP back stage tour which was so insightful and exciting. Travelling through underground tunnels that we were not supposed to be in and discovering a 900 year old underground church along with hiding in the same cupboard as a certain suffragette Emily Wilding Davison. It all felt like something out of a Hollywood Blockbuster.

All in all it was a perfect weekend. We are so proud of all of the clients that came with us they made the most of every moment and never stopped smiling.

We would really like to thank MP Neil O’Brien and Narinder Singh who were fantastic hosts as well as Leanne Plummer from Active Harborough (Harborough District Council) whom we dragged along with us to thank her for the physical activity work she and her team do with us.

What a fantastic experience for everyone, we fully involved ourselves in the hustle and bustle of London life. We even travelled on the tube!

See you again soon London. Freedom will be back!
