Support Worker – Apprenticeship

Freedom Support are well known for their exciting and creative sessions at the Training Academy. Their success is in part due to the fantastic relationships with their local and county wide partners. Also, the solid relationships that they have with all their students’ families means that projects, sessions and events are well supported and well received. They are available to help give advice and information which helps family carers to feel confident and well informed. The recent development of the Freedom Family Carers Support Group ensures that this will remain so.
Freedom Support Solutions became a Limited Company in 2011 set up by Tony Byers-Brown and Marie Norman Bingham as a day service. They initially started in the Settling Rooms in the centre of Market Harborough as a small group then worked up to meeting at Market Harborough Football Club. In 2014 the service became so popular they then decided to move to bigger premises which is where the Training Academy is now based. Freedom Support Solutions also have 2 supported living homes in Market Harborough and 2 in Desborough in which they have up to 3 clients in each home. Freedom Support Solutions pride themselves on having high class quality homes. Each bedroom for example has an en-suite and the decoration is fresh and modern, chosen by each tenant. Our supported Living homes are in high demand.

Job responsibilities

  • To work under the supervision of the practitioner and staff members in the delivery of high-quality care.
  • To aid and support to a broad spectrum of our clients, and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To provide personal care and administrate medication effectively.
  •  Assist with daily workload within a department.
  • To gain relevant work-based learning within a Healthcare environment.
  • Keeping accurate records of the care provided, observations, and any changes in the individual’s condition is typically part of the role. This information is often shared with senior staff and healthcare professionals.
  •  Support workers apprentice often work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, family members, and caregivers to ensure the holistic well-being of the individual.
  • Maintaining professionalism and boundaries while providing care and support is essential. Support workers apprentice must respect the dignity, privacy, and autonomy of the individuals they support.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of the individual is paramount. Support workers apprentice must follow relevant policies and procedures to minimize risks and promote a safe environment.
  • Become prepared and knowledgeable within the working environment and work towards gaining a Level 2 / 3  Apprenticeship in Healthcare support worker.

The role of a support worker apprentice is diverse and rewarding, offering opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals while gaining valuable skills and experience in the healthcare sector.
GCSE Qualifications in English & Maths ideal for this position. Candidate success is subject to DBS checks and references.
